The Air Jordan IX was originally never supposed to be worn in game by Michael Jordan. After almost ending the Jordan line, Tinker Hatfield demanded the production be continued with his design for the Air Jordan IX.
To commemorate Jordan’s first retirement, Omari and Julie Rotblatt-Amrany created ‘The Spirit’ statue outside of United Center in Chicago. On Saturday August 22nd, the Air Jordan IX ‘Statue’ will pay homage to this statue and Jordan’s first retirement.
