Growing up in Queens, New York was a lesson in cultural anthropology. Though my own neighborhood of Flushing was predominantly Korean, to walk a few blocks west was to take a journey through foreign lands. From Mexico to Egypt; Pakistan to Greece and beyond.
In fact, Queens is by definition the most ethnically diverse region in the world. 48% of our 2.2 million are foreign born. We helm from over 100 different nations and speak 138 languages. Time after time, immigrant communities settled here by bringing a small piece of home to plant on their new street corner.
When it came to fashion, our cultures would borrow from one another to form a cohesive city identity. This was my New York and this was my streetwear.
Moss is born of this goal — to bring the world and its influences together like nowhere else but New York can. Our inspiration is drawn from everywhere, and yet from home. No matter who puts on one of our items, it continues to excite me how they choose to make it their own.
